our client is seeking a dynamic and results-driven plant manager to lead their growing manufacturing facility in tecate, mexico. This role presents a unique opportunity to oversee a highly skilled team and drive operational excellence at a site poised for significant expansion.
as the plant manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of operations, ensuring efficient production while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You will lead a diverse team across key departments, including hr, accounting, eh&s, production, maintenance, materials and logistics, and it. Your strategic leadership will be pivotal in optimizing processes, cultivating strong relationships with suppliers and customers, and ensuring adherence to import/export regulations. This position reports to a vp of operations.
key responsibilities :
* operational leadership : direct all aspects of plant operations, driving efficiency, quality, and safety across production and support functions.
* team management : lead and mentor a cross-functional leadership team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
* strategic growth : spearhead the plant’s growth and expansion, ensuring scalable processes and systems that align with organizational goals.
* supplier & customer relations : build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure a seamless flow of materials and products.
* compliance : oversee compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, including immex and mexico-specific import/export regulations.
* continuous improvement : implement lean manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
* financial management : manage plant budgets, analyze key metrics, and make data-driven decisions to meet financial objectives.
the candidate
key qualifications :
* educational background : bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, business administration, or a related field.
* experience : proven experience as a plant manager, director of operations, sr. Operations manager, or similar leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
* industry knowledge : familiarity with immex programs and experience in managing operations in mexico is highly desirable.
* production & quality management : in-depth knowledge of production management, quality control, and safety standards.
* continuous improvement : demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing and driving process optimization.
* financial acumen : strong understanding of budget management, financial analysis, and ability to read and interpret p&l statements.
* leadership style : strong leadership skills with a focus on servant leadership, team empowerment, and hands-on problem-solving.
* bilingual : proficiency in both english and spanish is highly desirable.
