metso is seeking a motivated, highly technical hse manager to join our high achieving market area team. This role will play a crucial part in performing and coordinating all hse policies, practices, and seeking safety solutions for our employees. This specific role will be based in irapuato.
what you'll do:
1. develop the health, safety, and hygiene program for mexico, including identifying hse needs across mining units, updating procedures and manuals to align with regulations, and ensuring compliance with client requirements.
2. coordinate compliance with occupational health and safety standards across mexico operations and field/site services, including monitoring entry requirements at mining units.
3. implement environmental management programs in collaboration with the environmental team.
4. ensure compliance with hazardous waste management procedures and environmental standards across our premises and mining units.
5. ensure the implementation of emergency preparedness and response plans and manage ppe inventory and distribution.
6. manage and mentor hse supervisors in mexico, ensuring effective communication and alignment with hse policies and goals.
who you are:
1. degree in engineering, occupational medicine, health & safety, or related field or demonstrate years of experience.
2. osha/niosh certifications desirable.
3. iso 9001, 45001, 14001 auditor certification desirable, or experience attending or implementing those.
4. effective communication and interpersonal skills.
5. effective negotiation and presentation skills.
6. ability to travel within short notice.
7. proven hse management experience (+5 years), experience with exposure to heavy machining operation, field services, construction, mining, metals, or petrochemical industry.
