*main duties & responsibilities*
*position summary*:
the operations manager is responsible performance of the manufacturing facility, including safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory; leading direct and indirect manufacturing team members, including all support groups; plays a key part in the development of the customer relationship through meeting daily commitments regarding on time delivery, product quality and safety; identify and implement productivity improvement projects to improve the profitability of the operation; participate in the development of new projects to be launched at the facility, and lead project implementation; be a change agent leader, driving the cultural transformation necessary to achieve world class performance within the organization.
*primary duties and responsibilities*:
- ensure that all plant processes and activities are managed in a manner which maximizes team member safety and complies with all relevant environmental and health & safety legislation. Creates and promotes a safety culture amongst team members.
- direct and manage plant operations for production, maintenance; supports quality, shipping and receiving.
- implement and champion processes to support rieke's operational excellence framework for performance excellence. Ensure team members are trained and adhere to processes and policies on a daily basis.
- drive continuous improvement within the organization.
- coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, inventory, manpower, wages and salaries.
- manage capital asset maintenance.
- establish and monitor overall plant performance for on-time delivery, production and quality standards through proven data driven metrics for all responsible departments.
- control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, scrap, rework and repair expenses.
- maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
- implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
- ensures that there is daily, weekly and monthly structure around shop floor schedules, demand/supply plan, and tracking of production performance.
- lead implementation of lean manufacturing techniques to support performance objectives.
- lead implementation of new products and projects, including on-site technical support at filler trials.
- provides direction, development and leadership to plant leadership team and uses performance management tools to evaluate achievement against objectives (the what and the how), improve succession depth in organization and creates developmental opportunities.
- participate in design of new equipment with the corporate technical team and various vendors.
- develop and implement well-managed process for equipment changeovers to optimize uptime and ensure performance objectives are achieved. Continuously explore opportunities to reduce equipment changeover times.
- develop and document operating procedures. Train team members to effectively use the procedures in their day-to-day roles.
- conduct daily production meetings, plant walkthroughs and safety compliance audits; implement corrective action as required.
- ensure the operation meets environmental regulations and operating certificates; implement corrective actions as required.
- represent and promote the business in the "community" with other suppliers to support sales, service, innovation and speed to market for customer restage programs.
- represent and promote the business in the surrounding communities in a positive and professional manner.
- proactively participate in operating reviews to discuss past, current and forecasted performance, including improvement projects, growth projects and corrective action plans.
- support all ehs activities and strictly reporting on the performance of the quality management system and on opportunities for improvement to management.
- ensuring the promotion of customer focus throughout the organization and in particular, your area of responsibility.
- ensures that the integrity of the quality management system is maintained when changes to the quality management system are planned and implemented.

- bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing and/or business.
- injection molding, automation and plastics experience.
- lean or six sigma qualification preferred.
- minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing leadership positions.
