responsibilities
the opportunity
are you passionate about executing innovation, renovation and productivity projects and making a tangible impact? we are looking for a dynamic individual to lead execution and develop exciting projects focused on our grains platform. In this role, you will be on charge of developing and deploying technical solutions across multiple r&d pillars, including innovation, portfolio transformation, productivity, brand stewardship, business continuity initiatives in partnership with all r&d disciplines, involving different platforms and countries delivering great tasting products in compliance with nutritional criteria, cost and time targets.
your responsibilities will include creating high-quality, fit-for-purpose products from bench to industrial scale, aligned with pepsico guidelines and the pep+ agenda. This involves combining science, technology and culinary arts. Building robust specifications, performing critical design validations. You will act as the technical team lead and will collaborate with all r&d disciplines, operations, procurement and business partners including marketing and finance. Your work will be conducted following the pepsico stage gate process.
your impact
as r&d product development scientist your responsibilities would consist of:
* lead the technical development of innovation, renovation and tbs, from laboratory prototypes to industrial scale and production start-up, and track product performance. Support r&d with data collection, documentation, ingredient screening, functionality evaluation, and trial runs in labs and pilot plants.
* develop and implement aop innovation projects for grain portfolio aligned with business strategy, nutritional requirements and consumer needs, complying with internal innovation process.
* execute competitive tracking of the assigned categories, understanding well the key attributes, technology, price point and main claims of competitors portfolio and identify strengths and weakness.
* collaborate with external vendors and ingredients team to add new ingredients to the system and identify new and/or optimized ingredients that drive innovation, productivity, and brand stewardship initiatives.
* partner with the multidisciplinary r&d team, including regulatory, food safety and quality assurance, life sciences, sensory experience, to ensure compliance with local and international regulations.
* lead the product optimization process based sensory data and consumer testing results for launching.
* oversee the end-to-end technical documentation process for finished product and raw material documentation.
* conduct technical analysis and create action plans to address contingencies and ensure business continuity. Executing them in collaboration with multifunctional teams, particularly manufacturing, marketing and r&d areas, to confirm mitigation plans.
* identify, validate, and implement productivity and brand stewardship initiatives for b&g across latam, ensuring regulatory compliance and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
qualifications

experience required:
* bachelor’s degree in food engineering, food chemistry, food technology, or a related field.
* 1-2 years of experience in the food industry, preferably in r&d, production, or quality.
* product development expertise, from prototyping to industrial scale, with an analytical approach.
* intermediate english proficiency.
* proactive, adaptable, and solution-oriented, with strong decision-making, problem-solving, and creative thinking abilities in dynamic environments.
* availability to travel.
