borgwarner powerdrive systems is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as an environmental engineer at our slp pds plant in mexico.
in this role, the environmental engineer will be responsible for leading and maintaining the operation of the iso 14001:2015 and iso 50001:2018 management systems, including the processes applicable to compliance with energy and environmental controls, through the identification, evaluation and monitoring of improvement actions, managing the identification of environmental aspects and impacts including those related to energy, in addition to monitoring compliance with legal requirements and other requirements.
key accountabilities
* maintain and improve the environmental management system based on the iso 14001:2015 standard.
* implement the energy management system based on iso 50001:2018.
* ensure compliance with the comprehensive ehs&s policy and management system objectives.
* coordinate internal and external audits of management systems.
* follow-up of the annual training plan in environmental and energy matters.
* comply with and supervise the controls established to prevent accidents, work incidents and impacts on the environment.
* keep up to date compliance with the applicable legal requirements in the field of energy and the environment.
* management and execution of procedures, studies and analyses required for legal compliance in a timely manner in matters of water, soil, air, noise, emergencies, waste, environmental risk and impact and energy.
* prepare and present the annual operation certificate.
* obtain and renew the operating license on an annual basis.
* management and administration of the hazardous and non-hazardous waste warehouse.
* attend external audits, corporate, government institutions and/or clients regarding the management system.
* follow-up to ehs&s plans and programs.
* support in issues related to patrimonial security.
* follow-up to ehs&s preventive and corrective actions.
* provide advice on investigations of work accidents/incidents and follow-up on corrective actions.
* monitoring and improvement of the environmental emergency plan (training, brigade training, leak/spill drills, review of emergency teams).
* serve as an instructor on energy and environmental issues.
* stop processes in case of deviations.
* actively participate in the final annual inventory.
qualifications
* education: industrial, chemical, environmental or end-to-end engineering.
* time of experience in similar position: 3 years.
* technical knowledge required: iso 14001 and iso 50001 internal auditor in iso 14001 and iso 50001 automotive industry process experience legal requirements regarding energy and environmental compliance: lgeepa, lgpgir, nom's, semarnat, etc. Legal procedures before federal, state and municipal government institutions accident investigation and prevention ehs&s risk management.
