Our client is an international global leading manufacturing company and they have requested us to search for an experienced materials manager for their facility currently expanding in tijuana, b.c.
the materials manager is responsible to drive strategic direction of the business and ensuring achievement of operating and production objectives consistent with quality assurance requirements and customer, optimizing the utilization of the workforce to minimize manufacturing costs.
participates as a key member of plant manager's staff in all critical decisions impacting facility
*main responsibilities*
- develop and implement material production scheduling/planning system to meet customer demand while managing operational and capacity constraint.
- drives sales goals of the manufacturing plant-manages product additions and deletions, including coordination of all expediting activities.
- lead and direct the material planning & purchasing team to balance the demand as driven by material requirements planning (mrp), shop floor capacity and customer sales orders.
- plans, directs and coordinates a staff of master production schedulers and material planners to ensure goals are met or exceeded
- responsible for the following key measures: work-in-process, order date accuracy, on-time, work release, customer on-time-delivery, material velocity through the plant, and employee engagement.
- full logistics responsibilities including a distribution center management.
- ensures purchases required for raw material & components to support production plans for internally manufacture or supplied by outside sources.
supervises & leads the entire siop process.
- assists in expediting material, where required, to meet shortfall between current plan and customer order requirements.
- analyzes data, including enterprise requirements planning information and prepares consolidated managerial reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure plant/product line optimal supply chain execution.
- production control & internal warehouses management.
- develop and implement programs to utilize the elements of the company's business systems to achieve strategic goals of the plant, and profit plan objectives of the plant.
- provide continuous support of plant requirements related to materials function
- manage logistics & planning function
- lead production scheduling
- manage, lead, develop & guide associates in developing materials skills
- manage strategic planning process related to materials activities
- initiate & implement process improvement activities to meet business objectives (scheduling levels, lean value chains, logistics contracts
- support corporate cost-out activities as representative for the plant
- manage releases to suppliers to ensure superior supplier delivery performance while minimizing freight costs & inventory investment
- champion demand planning & production scheduling processes integrated with sales, inventory & operations planning processes
- manage processes, material, and personnel to ensure that finished material is shipped according to schedules.
this includes internal and external customers.
*qualifications*
- university degree required, industrial engineering or related
- bilingual (spanish & english language capability, speaking, reading & writing)
- minimum experience of 7-10 years in materials management in a manufacturing environment
- ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- ability to build trust & maintain confidentiality is critical
- demonstrated organizational & prioritization skills
- knowledge of abc analysis
- cycle accounting
- high mix, high volume
- apics's cpim certification is a plus
- sap/oracle is a must
