overview: the business development manager (bdm) for europe will be instrumental in driving growth and expanding berlitz uk and ireland's presence across the european market.
reporting to the global sales director, the bdm will focus on retaining and expanding existing client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and executing strategic initiatives to achieve revenue and growth targets.
frequent travel within the region is required to foster relationships and support business expansion.
key responsibilities: business development management: maintain and grow relationships with existing accounts, while identifying and onboarding new clients through b2b networks and partnerships.
develop and implement strategic sales and marketing plans to achieve annual revenue and kpi targets.
conduct regular visits to key markets to engage stakeholders at all stages of the customer journey.
collaborate with international representatives to maintain accurate records of agents and partners.
monitor sales pipelines, ensuring consistent growth in lead conversions and revenue generation.
serve as the regional expert on market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments in the european elt and education sector.
partnership development: establish and nurture strategic partnerships with educational institutions, agents, and other stakeholders.
negotiate and finalise agreements to support mutual success and long-term collaboration.
organise and lead meetings, visits, and workshops with partners to strengthen relationships.
marketing and external communications: represent berlitz uk & ireland at conferences, exhibitions, and industry events to promote the company's brand and offerings.
collaborate with the marketing team to create tailored campaigns and compelling marketing materials.
deliver product demonstrations, webinars, and training sessions to clients and partners.
identify opportunities to enhance the company's visibility and market presence in europe.
work cross-functionally with product, marketing, and operations teams to align new business proposals with company objectives.
stay updated on berlitz's uk & ireland offerings and industry trends to ensure accurate and effective communication with clients.
qualifications and requirements: bachelor's degree preferred.
minimum 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management, ideally in the elt or education sector.
proven success in driving revenue growth and developing new business opportunities.
strong proficiency in microsoft office suite (excel, word, powerpoint).
excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
fluency in spanish and english (c1 level or higher); additional european languages are an advantage.
willingness to travel frequently across europe.
ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when necessary.
