position summary:
engineering excellence is a strategic pillar in our r&d organization to enable globally harmonized engineering organizations, engineering tools and laboratories, engineering quality, engineering processes and sustaining execution for harman pro products in the market.
engineering excellence is also the link between adjacent departments to engineering according to our plm process, such as procurement, manufacturing, ame and quality.
for sustaining engineering the key stakeholders are product management, technical customer service, regulatory compliance and operations team.
supervisory responsibilities:
this position leads a team of 50 plus globally distributed team members.
job responsibilities:
- global leadership for engineering tools, engineering processes & assessment / audits
- global leadership for sustaining engineering, assuring product continuity on market, including stakeholder management (product management, technical customer support and operations) and sustaining team prioritization based on business need
- managing end to end execution of hw redesign and sw bug fixing activities
- process owner of regulatory compliance requirements management for the pro division
- keeping pro updated with the latest regulatory compliance driven standard changes and manage implementation on all pro products
- leading end of life and component shortage resolution across supply chain in cooperation with operations and product management team (direct influence on product end of life situations)
- leadership for value engineering and value analysis for new products, delivering competitive benchmarks for project teams
- definition and monitoring (global dashboards) to track program execution excellence (cross functional responsibility), rollout of scorecard to monitor progress of engineering deliverables
- harmonization of footprint & organizational improvement strategies and implementation of synergies.
- strong alignment with all other harman divisions, best practice sharing
- provide support for global definition of lab standards and authority to enforce local adoption and adherence to those global standards
- customer top management interface and escalation level for engineering quality topics
- accountable for all professional division engineering plm and design tools
- approval authority for plm system changes
- owner of pro r&d knowledge capturing and knowledge transfer
- work with r&d leadership, it business unit integration director and it system administrators to develop support requirements
- responsible for plm interfaces with other systems including erp (sap)
- stay informed and introduce needed changes based on technology developments and trends
- manage cad and ecad requirements for harman professional including license requirements
- responsible for engineering tool acquisition and license coordination for division and corporate collaboration
- facilitate common practices with component engineering and engineering directors
- communicate division strategy for engineering excellence and tools to management, staff, clients and stakeholders
- collaborate with other professional leadership to develop best practices and efficiencies for engineering needs
