our optical communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.this segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
key responsibilities :
regulatory compliance :
* monitor and interpret international trade regulations, including export/import laws, tariffs, and sanctions.
* ensure compliance with the export administration regulations (ear), international traffic in arms regulations (itar), office of foreign assets control (ofac) regulations, and other relevant trade laws.
documentation and reporting :
* prepare and maintain all necessary documentation for import/export activities.
* ensure accurate classification of products (us-mex)
* file necessary export/import declarations and licenses with government agencies.
internal audits and training :
* conduct internal audits of trade compliance practices and procedures.
* identify and address areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
* develop and deliver training programs for employees on trade compliance policies and procedures.
risk management :
* evaluate and mitigate risks related to international trade activities.
* assist in the development and implementation of trade compliance policies and procedures.
* provide guidance on potential compliance risks and recommend strategies to minimize exposure.
collaboration and communication :
* work closely with internal departments, including legal, logistics, procurement, and finance, to ensure compliance with trade regulations.
* serve as a point of contact for customs brokers, freight forwarders, and other external partners.
* respond to trade compliance inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
qualifications :
education : bachelor’s degree in international trade, business administration, law, or a related field.
experience :
* minimum of 5 years of experience in trade compliance and customs.
* experience with mex and u.s. export/import regulations and international trade laws.
* experience on annex 30 and annex 24
* experience related to certifications as vat, oea and ctpat.
skills :
* strong understanding of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
* excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
* strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* strong knowledge and management of sap and prisma software
* proficiency in microsoft office suite (word, excel, powerpoint).
* english bilingual.
desired qualifications :
* professional certification in international trade agreements
* experience in the management of an immex
* knowledge of global trade management systems and erp systems.
