the role
this vp of operations role has responsibility for the execution of tactical network plans and implementation of capital investments supporting the network build program.
this individual will serve as a cross functional leader supporting large-scale, long-term network initiatives.
the vp of operations role offers the ability to take on an analytical team handling process improvement projects and make an impact within the operational functions of the company.
the program will deploy in an operationally efficient and reliable manner day-to-day operations which is standard and consistent with lumen's network strategies focusing on growth, scalability and overall cost management.
this is a highly visible role reporting to senior leadership.
this position will employ cross functional matrix management skills for processes, systems, and tools, reporting up to the svp field operations and network implementation.
the main responsibilities
- strategic expansion - responsible for all market expansions in support of sales or network planning, relative to the mass markets build-out program
- network deployment - physical deployment of all new additions and augments of all existing network components
- capacity resolution - includes the tactical planning and solutions engineering for additions or augments to the network
- network commissioning and testing - logical configurations, testing, and acceptance of all new and augments of all existing network components
- implementation project management - responsible for management of all network projects from scope validation, date management, milestone management, internal/external communications and management of contractor engagement
- outside plant construction services - includes management of all building adds, outside plant augments, building access agreements, right-of-way and 3rd party asset acquisition, and fiber inventory of the na network
- row (right of way) and third party acquisitions and network inventory
- bachelor's degree in engineering, telecommunications, construction, construction management, business or related field or the equivalent in training and experience.
- 8 -10 years experience in telecommunications technologies and architectures, network construction, engineering and operations including, but not limited to: osp, central office configurations, optical networks and the latest technologies involving gpon and high-speed bandwidth delivery over copper.
- experience with occupational and third-party vendor (contractor) environments with a demonstrated ability to form working win/win partnerships.

this position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation.
