Essential purpose of this position:
as staff specialist, develops, plans, and directs a variety of projects and activities. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient, or confirmation by testing is advisable. This position is held by an incumbent who is recognized as a technical expert within the department or division of the company. Incumbent possesses a thorough knowledge of general principles and theories in the coatings field, and contributes significantly to the solution of applied problems. Incumbent typically possesses a bachelor level degree in chemistry and five or more years of experience.
essential functions and responsibilities:
* prepares development proposals and feasibility studies
* assists management in establishing technical objectives
* coordinates efforts at all levels with other units of the company including engineering, manufacturing, marketing, etc.
* may develop new or modified components, products, manufacturing processes, and materials
* handles enamels for magnet wire coating.
* handles lubricants for magnet wire manufacturing.
* provides application support to manufacturing plants as needed to introduce/maintain new enamels
required skills and abilities:
* must have skills in the following: initiative, innovation management, peer relations, results drive, time management, and written communications.
* demonstrated ability to work independently under general supervision in a multidisciplinary team environment.
education and experience requirements:
* bs in chemistry
