in this role, your responsibilities will be:
1. design and development of automation equipment to help achieve the objectives of efficiency, quality and safety.
2. process analysis for the detection of automation opportunities.
3. supplier development for complementary parts.
4. actively work with the product engineer for part modifications to enable a feasible design to be automated.
5. actively working with the manufacturing engineer to identify areas of opportunity for labor reduction through the use of automation systems.
6. construction of safe equipment by applying safety concepts and validating them through the moc process.
7. technical support on current equipment.
8. project cost estimation, justification, resource management and cost control.
knowledge, proficiencies and skills:
mechanical, electrical, electronic or mechatronics engineering, passionate about the automation area.
demonstrate a strong innovation focus, suggesting creative solutions and improvements to existing processes.
lead concept design, programming, testing and deployment of automation systems that will range from pick & place, palletizing, assembly, material handling, inspection, and tape application.

1. minimum 3 years in a similar position (preferred).
2. 5 years of proven experience in a maquiladora environment.
3. experience working with industrial robots.
4. experience with solidworks or similar software for machine design.
5. knowledge of pneumatic, electrical systems, plcs and industrial controls.
6. conversational english.
7. able to maintain a technical conversation with suppliers and engineers.
