the position
the tech lead will build a single business technology organization at the site to combine the relevant site level bt, automation and laboratory activities and provide technology leadership for the site by driving a digitization strategy & roadmap, drives a culture of data driven decision making across the site and implements best practice digital solutions to efficiently manage the provision of bt and automation support across the site.
responsibilities
this role is responsible for the performance of all business technology operations carried out at the site, ensuring appropriate support to site operations is maintained, and that all operational activities are safe, compliant and demonstrate appropriate financial stewardship. To support this goal, this role will lead and manage a team of bt and automation colleagues at the site, as well as leveraging the capabilities of our local and global partners, and of the global bt platform and infrastructure teams within the company.
the role has the accountability for all bt, automation and laboratory technology capabilities deployed at the site, including the site components of the global network and server infrastructure, and bt capabilities deployed on the shop floor. This includes ensuring that the solutions deployed are fit for purpose, appropriately resourced, and supported, validated as per current and evolving regulatory expectations and maintained as part of an active lifecycle management program.
the role will lead the digital transformation and to continuously improve the operational performance and roi of our digital assets at the site. The role will drive early involvement of digital technology and innovation in the site’s bt portfolio and capital planning and will be directly accountable for managing the implementation of all technology related projects, with a key focus on business value generation and roi.
the role requires strong ownership of the development and implementation of an integrated digital technology strategy for the site, which will underpin the site’s mission and fully align with corporate strategy. The automation & bt lead will act as a bridge between manufacturing challenges and technology solutions and will maintain a close relationship with regional and site leads, the bt hubs and platform organization and manufacturing organization with review across markets to ensure alignment.
automation, lab and bt solutions and improvements to be realized will be a combination of globally and locally driven solutions, but always with a view to create an optimal value for the overall corporation, integrated and the innovative use of process data analytics and industry 4.0 technologies to support operations.
the lead will maintain a close relationship with manufacturing leads and an active member of the site leadership team.
key responsibilities, result areas & tasks
* serves as primary point of contact to the manufacturing site. Participates in overall business technology planning, bringing a current knowledge and future vision of technology and systems as related to site objectives. Establishes and communicates overall strategy for business technology & automation needs.

* acts as transformation agent to align the digital technology portfolio with the business strategy, the a&bt strategic plan and the company architecture.
* builds an organization to sustain our modernization investment as well as leveraging that investment to provide significant additional value for the organization and managing future capital investment.
* manages digital technology portfolio for the site. Accountable for on budget and on time completion of projects.
* manages the business technology team. Builds a strategic capability for the client through strategic staffing, and organizational development, as well as employee recruitment, retention and development. Manages and nurtures digital talent, in an increasingly competitive environment, ensuring appropriate upskilling of existing talent and rewarding career paths.
* guides the team to lead and drives local (human) change management processes as needed to realize the value of technology innovations / improvements.
* accountable for service levels and service agreements with internal and external parties in order to assure that business can rely with their operation on a&bt systems 24x7.
* acts as single point of accountability (demand-side) to harness the supply capabilities, as appropriate, to solve the business problem.
* is accountable and responsible that all support and systems developments by the team is aligned with the company system development lifecycle (sdlc) and regulatory requirements, including development/review of the required deliverables as well as leading, executing, and facilitation of appropriate testing activities.
* drive continuous improvements and innovation, develops and outside-in view based on cross-industry networking and keep abreast of new technologies, methodologies, industry practices and standards.
* reports on key performance indicators and other appropriate measures/metrics to assure projected value realization and manages/escalates corresponding issues to the appropriate level.
* manage a much-improved level of interaction with enterprise groups and strategic vendors, both to maintain stable operations and to support ongoing it and manufacturing investment programs.
required education, experience and skills
* bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
* at least 10 years of experience in providing it services to a diverse customer base and leading large teams (required).
* demonstrated gxp experience (life science, pharma, medical device) and/or manufacturing experience.
* strategic planning, decision making and problem-solving skills.
* good understanding of sdlc and lean/mps principles. Experienced in validation of automation and it systems. Lean six sigma green or black belt is desirable.
* demonstrated excellent communication and influencing skills, and high personal integrity, credibility, and energy.
* demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior clients, a&it and business leaders is a mandatory requirement. Demonstrated leadership in achieving shared objectives in a matrix organization.
* strong understanding of manufacturing principles/processes and ability to translate manufacturing requirements into solutions.
* ability to develop, articulate and build support around a long-term vision and implement incremental milestones in support of that vision.
* ability and passion to build and empower effective teams & experience in working in global organization and teams.
* project management experience on large sized projects, with demonstrated knowledge of project management process and methodologies.
* expertise in the application of innovative analytics solutions in a production environment and good understanding and working experience with industry 4.0 philosophy is preferred.
