job summary:
in this role, you will be required to conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project’s electrical engineering aspects are met.
major responsibilities:
* evaluating, selecting, and applying standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
* participating in the design, development and modification of components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission, and storage of electricity utilizing relevant engineering department procedures (edps), design standards and guides, and bechtel standard application programs (bsaps).
* coordinating electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups and coordinating work and collaborating with other engineering disciplines.
* preparing conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals.
* providing technical assistance to other electrical personnel and will interact with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standards.
* providing assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution.
education and experience requirements:
level 1
* requires bachelor's degree in civil electrical engineering and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
level 2
* requires bachelor's degree in civil electrical engineering and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
required knowledge and skills:
* knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computer applications within the electrical engineering discipline.
* knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods and of precedents in the electrical discipline and principles and practices of inter-related disciplines.
* knowledge of related construction practices and the associated costs.
* knowledge of application and coordination of 2-d and 3-d computer aided design (cad) tools on a project.
* good knowledge of major industry or regulatory standards and particularly in chilean standard.
