Guidewheel is building a real-time factoryops platform that connects to any factory machine using power-based sensors to deliver instant visibility into performance, productivity, and energy use. The system processes terabytes of time-series data weekly and empowers manufacturers to increase productivity and reduce emissions.
as part of a small, international engineering team, you'll work on a cloud-native platform that integrates machine data with business logic, enabling automated insights and high-impact decision-making across manufacturing operations. You’ll help scale a mission-driven product used by companies like general motors, johnson & johnson, and coca-cola femsa.
responsibilities
1. design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using node.js and typescript.
2. develop apis and infrastructure to support a real-time dashboard for factory operations.
3. optimize system performance, reliability, and security across cloud-based deployments.
4. collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business and customer needs into backend solutions.
5. own and drive projects end-to-end — from architecture and implementation to testing and deployment.
6. implement and advocate for robust testing strategies, including unit and integration tests.
7. maintain technical documentation and participate in regular code reviews.
8. contribute to continuous improvement of system architecture, coding standards, and engineering processes.
must have
1. 7+ years of backend development experience with a strong focus on scalable system design.
2. expertise in node.js and typescript for production-grade services.
3. solid experience with api design, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
4. strong knowledge of sql and nosql databases (e.g. Postgresql, redis).
5. experience with cloud platforms, especially gcp or similar (aws, azure).
6. familiarity with ci/cd pipelines, automated testing, and devops best practices.
7. ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
8. proactive, self-directed mindset and strong communication skills.
nice to have
1. experience with bigtable, rabbitmq, and/or heroku.
2. familiarity with message-driven architectures and event streaming.
3. background in real-time data processing or handling large-scale time-series data.
4. exposure to machine data, industrial iot, or manufacturing systems.
5. previous involvement in early-stage startups or mission-driven tech companies.
6. experience mentoring other developers or leading technical initiatives.
