*job summary & accountabilities*:
the materials manager is responsible for manages all the planning and logistics within the pd operations being responsible of the supply chain optimization, inventory management, siop, warehouse control, inbound and outbound logistics, distribution and customs compliance functions supporting effectively our customer service areas to meet sales and inventory objectives.
- negotiate the pricing of major commodity groups.
- review actual results to ensure that goals are achieved for cost savings, inventory, shipping & customer service related issues.
- management of transportation issues, including review of carriers and daily execution of shipping schedules, for cost, service and quality.
- review all issues related to nafta for imports and exports and insure compliance to same.
- continually support the education and cross training of all subordinates.
- negotiate vmi programs and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- to coordinate order scheduling to meet customer promise dates for stock and non stock items.
- ensure promptly communication with sales team in orders status.
- develops logistics, distribution and warehouse strategies for the region.
- coordinates the siop (sales, inventory and operations planning) function, specifically managing the demand planning for the distribution center.
- manages inventory control and warehousing in the region, focusing in balance inventory and lead times with customer requirements.
- contracts and evaluates logistics suppliers for transportation, customs clearance, warehouse services, outbound distribution according to eaton policies and procedures.
- analyzes and evaluates inventory and delivery problems to recommend and/or implement solution to optimize inventory levels and customer service.
arranges for the sale of scrap, obsolete, surplus material and by-products in order to minimize excess material.
- drive logistics process improvements, developing an optimal material flow to support customer requirements.
- support the sales organization on costing the best logistics solution for special projects, assist in the analysis of engineering cost savings programs based on reducing costs and lead times.
- know and comply the policies: global ethics, values and philosophy, management environmental safety and security and health (mesh).

- bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business administration or engineering from an accredited institution required.
- master's degree in business administration, supply chain or related field from an accredited institution (preferred).
- minimum of 10 years' supply chain manager experience.
- experience supervising salaried emplomes.
- significant computer experience including ms office products and erp systems
- thorough knowledge of and experience working with kanban systems and other lean manufacturing principles.
- detailed working knowledge of buying, material planning, master scheduling and forecasting.
- demonstrates attention to detail.
excellent communication skills.
- proven ability to lead a team to consistently achieve stretch goals and objectives.
