Involves the overall planning, implementation, and optimization of all activities and support required for the buying and delivery of products and services, from material acquisition through delivery. Primary areas include procurement and contracting, supply management, inventory management, logistics operations, supplier diversity, transportation, and distribution.
responsibilities:
* represents global supply management (gsm) within the plant/business, engaging corporate functions, shared services, and corporate gsm functions to assure global buying policy enforcement and global customs compliance adherence. Establishes linkage between gsm strategy, business strategy, and plant strategy through shared objectives.
* assures contribution metrics are updated and linked with site/business cost reduction portfolio by actively leading or participating in cross-functional teams focused on process improvement, cost reduction, and supply chain enhancements. Leverages site spend with business and corporate spend.
* creates and maintains contractual documents (supply agreements, pricing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, certificates of insurance, etc.).
* maintains effective supplier relationships through audits, visits, and evaluations to review capabilities and capacities.
* identifies new or alternative sources as necessary.
* develops risk mitigation plans when necessary.
* conducts sourcing activities (rfq’s/rfi’s, analysis, sourcing strategy/recommendations, contract negotiations, contract maintenance, and enforcement).
* engages early supplier involvement in new product development (process design, commodity overviews, ip opportunities, technical advantages, jda, etc.).
* locates and selects potential sources of materials or services (site-specific excluding global commodities).
* interacts with strategic sourcing to understand the supply base and market dynamics, supporting the execution of commodity and supplier sourcing strategy.
* collaborates with planning or production control to effectively manage material scheduling and planning.
* works with finance on standard setting, cost reduction budgeting, price forecasting, etc.
* acts as the main contact between commodity and site for implementing change.
* drives site implementation and advocacy of centralized rtp process.
* is an active leader/member of cross-functional teams focused on process improvement, cost reduction, supply chain issue resolution, and new product development.
minimum requirements:
* experience in manufacturing – operations, planning, quality, engineering, supply chain.
* experience as a plant or corporate buyer.
* experience with gsm processes and systems.
* experience as a supervisor.
* experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross-functional team.
* technical aptitude/capability.
* experience in frontline or mainstream business experience.
* willingness to be mobile globally.
* experience across multiple businesses, divisions, and/or technologies.
* experience in staff or project roles.
* experience with global manufacturing and business through work and project experience.
* certified purchasing manager (c.p.m.) or certified professional in supply management (cpsm), apics, or certification related to supply chain, etc.
