job description: field research technician, pathology
cimmyt seeks a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of field research technician, pathology to work in the global wheat program (gwp).
responsibilities
* extensively participate in field operations such as sowing, management, disease inoculation, disease evaluation, and harvest.
* execute greenhouse work, such as wheat disease experiments at seedling or adult plant stages, fungal virulence experiments, and seed multiplication.
* execute laboratory work such as collection, characterization, and maintenance of fungal pathogens, inoculum preparation, dna extraction, molecular marker diagnosis, and mycotoxin contamination evaluation.
* participate in the collection of agronomic data of crops using measurement instruments assigned to the unit.
* participate in warehouse work like seed storage and preparation.
requirements
* bachelor's degree in agronomy or related scientific field.
* desirable to have a master's in plant pathology or microbiology, agronomy, sciences, phytotechnics, or related.
* the selected candidate must have 1-2 years of experience if they hold a master's degree or 4-5 years of experience if they do not.
* the selected candidate must have the ability to do basic statistics and field map preparation.
* advanced level in english (english test will be administered; candidate must score a minimum of b2 as per cefr).
