As a capex category manager you will have responsibility for the strategic sourcing decisions that will need to be driven by market conditions data around cost, technology, and quality.
- proven experience as category manager or similar role. Solid knowledge of category management. Understanding the applied practice, concepts and process several procurement fields.
- experience in supply chain/ purchasing or related areas - 3 to 5 years (indirect purchasing / capex is a plus).
- advanced analytical thinking and decision-making skills, an analytical mind with a strategic ability.
- excellent communication and people skills.
- advanced planning, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- ability to manage large, moderately complex, medium to high-impact projects.
- ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
- ability to influence key stakeholders.
- engineering background is a plus. Knowledge in automotive machinery equipment and tooling is a plus.

- manage categories related to indirect equipment services and supplies (machinery and tooling).
- develop master category strategies (mcss) to support business objectives.
- devise long-term development strategies for categories.
- deploy actions within categories and deliver savings targets where appropriate.
- understand automotive manufacturing process to reflect needs in the mcss.
- research and understand global and regional industrial, economic and external supply market (monitor market trends, competitor strategies, market suppliers, key industry trends/issues environment, etc) and use that knowledge to leverage mcss.
- work cross-functionally to identify suppliers within the scope of the category requirements.
- analyze data / insights to determine industry and trends.
- provide guidance and oversight for category strategies implementation. Facilitate execution of master category strategies as part of the implementation team along with buyers and key stakeholders.
- support the collection of supplier, market, and category information.
- support tracking and documentation of risk and issue management for the category
- support implementation of risk mitigation, cost reduction, and inventory management plans.
- lead mcss approval with strategic key stakeholders.
- lead cross-functional teams regarding mcss development.
- lead consistent communications with stakeholders to drive category management and foster trust relationships.
- get in front of sourcing decisions by regular participation in the iess sourcing forums.
- attend required category management training modules when required.
- review taxonomy for any needed updates and align taxonomy to existing commodity codes.
- be an advocate for category management process adoption in the company.
- participate in innovative projects that will help buyers to optimize work.
