Head of transformation lam and mx
*context*
- as an emerging market, lam provides a complex, and yet competitive financial services market. Combined with the evolution of the hsbc strategy, transformation in lam and mx is a critical driver for change and remains pivotal in achieving our goals
- lam and mx have seen an increase in yoy ctb investment given its increasing strategic importance and is undergoing a pivot to a more agile enterprise model. In addition, there are a number of inbound movements into the transformation workforce as a result of strategic bank wide programmes such as banyan, increasing the size and scale of transformation in lam and mx
*role purpose and accountabilities*
*transformation*:
- drive the transformation of hsbc in lam and mx through the effective prioritization, sequencing and execution of growth, efficiency and risk and the fulfilment of hsbc environmental ambitions
- proactively drive change and innovation on an enterprise-wide basis.
- oversee day to day transformation activities and implementation of technology and operations solutions and oversight over gsc transformation
- manage and broker the interlock between global business, global functions and dbs stakeholders to understand local execution strategies and implementation plans in terms of demand, capacity and funding
- proactively identify and drive opportunities to increase improve customer journeys, increase efficiency and reduce cost in lam and mx, resulting in improved customer experience, sustainable saves and achievement of cost targets
- lead execution activities for the biggest and most important initiatives for lam
- ensure proactive remediation response to material risks and issues arising and to audit / assurance reports.
- engaged and inspirational team leadership and management of direct reports, including effective performance management, talent management, succession planning and employee engagement.
- as a key member of the lam and mx regional manco, ensure effective stewardship of the business strategy development and execution
*resilience*:
- responsible for ensuring operational integrity and resilience, first line regulatory compliance and operational risk management
- maintain compliance with global performance standards, policies and processes
- meet implementation of the change policy, change framework, rca and associated controls, including where required regional oversight and any defined portfolio risk tolerance
- proactive management of non-financial risks within lam and effective use of the non-financial risk framework
- ensure all actions are aligned with hsbc’s ‘3 lines of defense’ principles and processes
- encourage a culture of speaking up and escalation amongst dbs teams
*governance*:
- membership and accountability for a wide number of governance and/or steering committees
- the role will require gravitas in the ability to chair and update boards on a regular basis
*leadership*:
- active and engaged member of the lam and mx senior leadership team.
- drive the people agenda and role modelling of the hsbc values
- build collaborative multi-functional change teams which bring together the required business (including transformation), operations, risk, compliance and it colleagues; sharing good change ideas and ensuring transformation work is recognized
- lead capability development include adoption of agile capabilities
- ensure global programmes have sufficient resources and change is implemented successfully
- promote a positive work culture based on respect for people, integrity of actions, creativity and collaboration leading to increased productivity
- drive people engagement via events, exchanges, townhalls and snapshot scores
requirements
*experience*:
- a broad, enterprise-wide view of the business and varying degrees of appreciation for strategy, capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance
- very strong knowledge of the external environment - regulatory, political, competitors, innovation etc.
- outstanding knowledge of transformation - functionally, operationally and financially
- proven experience of positive, challenging interactions with senior executives across the group
- proven ability in working across multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural diverse work environments
- strong analytical background and proven ability in analytical rigor, including being able to contextualize data into business activities and conclusions
- proven ability in successfully identifying, designing and implementing large-scale, complex global / regional change initiatives
