The controller is responsible for overseeing the accounting and accounts
payable teams; ensuring that the financial statements are accurate and there is a strong
internal control environment.
Job functions:
- oversees the accounting operations, including the maintenance of accounting
principles, practices and procedures; ensures all accounting policies follow us generally
accepted accounting principles (gaap) and appropriately maintained.
- leads and provides development to the accounting team in providing excellent support
to the residents and team members.
- manages the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an
accurate accounting of consolidated business results.
- responsible for the research and implementation of new accounting literature and
- evaluates and maintains a strong internal control environment.
- oversees irs and tax reporting; including but not limited to the form 990, form 1120,
state income tax filings and form 1099 preparation and submission.
- oversees all cost report preparation, filing and audits.
- participates in several special projects; ensures accounting for system implementations
are appropriate.
- comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains
knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.
- maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
*requirements*:
- bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- ten years hands-on accounting managerial experience.
- certified public accountant (cpa), certified management accountant (cma) or master’s
are preferred.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- strong knowledge of us gaap.
- experience leading a team required; must have excellent employee relation skills and
discernment.
- must be self-motivated and work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a
team.
- ability to administer confidential information in an appropriate matter.
