- creates and develops conceptual design solutions and thought starters with smith system products for educational facilities globally, primarily classrooms, libraries, media centers, student commons, makerspaces, etc.
from pre-k through he where appropriate.
- supports design efforts to ensure the successful translation of research insights through design principles for education-specific thought starters, planning ideas, customer presentations, etc.
- provides design review services by doing quick checks of the dealer design if requested, keeping the project on target with the most effective products and solutions.
- explores new product concepts with realistic 3d views to ensure contextual fit of new products into educational setting types for the product development and launch process and marketing.

*minimum qualifications*
- bachelor's degree in architecture, interior design, industrial design or similar.
- 1-2 years of experience in a similar role (preferred but not required).
- advanced english level.
- knowledge of autocad, sketchup and adobe creative cloud.

- acquire product knowledge of smith system, steelcase learning and ancillary portfolios.
- possesses a natural sense of design thinking, creativity, critical thinking in the creative process.
- shows proficiency in space planning, rendering and graphic presentation skills.
- strong communication skills to listen, understand, question, and verbally communicate ideas.
- has confidence and analytical skills to collaborate with others, ask questions for clarity, defend design thinking, and support the team's goals.
- shows proficiency in project management, planning and organizing project deliverables, self-management, and effective time management.
- must have a willingness to take direction from local and remote teams, balancing direction from steelcase learning management, field sales, design process lead and customer needs.
- demonstrates knowledge of construction (building systems, codes, architectural detail, furnishings as well as acoustics, lighting, electrical and other appropriate disciplines.)
- demonstrates knowledge of architectural building practices (centerline building layout, column spacing, window logic, ceiling/lighting configurations, etc.)
