summary:
the product system engineer sr. is responsible for designing, developing, modifying, debugging, and evaluating software programs and systems across various functional areas of the organization. This role involves analyzing existing systems, formulating logic for new applications, developing and implementing solutions, and providing ongoing support. The ideal candidate will possess strong programming skills, analytical abilities, and the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively.
essential duties and responsibilities:
* software development:
* design, develop, modify, debug, and evaluate programs for functional areas including finance, human resources, manufacturing, and marketing.
* analyze user needs and develop software solutions to meet those needs.
* write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
* develop and implement software applications using a variety of programming languages and technologies.
* system analysis and design:
* analyze existing programs and systems to identify areas for improvement or modification.
* formulate logic for new systems and applications.
* devise logical procedures and prepare flowcharts.
* develop conversion and system implementation plans.
* testing and debugging:
* perform coding and conduct thorough testing and debugging of programs and applications.
* develop test plans and test cases.
* identify and resolve software defects.
* system maintenance and support:
* provide ongoing support for existing systems and applications.
* troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
* maintain system and programming documentation.
* recommend changes in development, maintenance, and system standards.
* infrastructure support (if applicable):
* build and maintain linux servers and network infrastructure.
* product test support (if applicable):
* develop and support automated product test suites and test teams for ves’s domestic and international manufacturing sites.
* develop test software to functionally verify pcba and system-level products, control switches, pdus, and measurement devices for new product development & product sustaining.
* work with cross-functional teams on assigned projects, including engineering, product managers, sales, and it teams.
* train users in the conversion and implementation of systems.
qualifications:
* education: bs degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
* experience: minimum 5 years related experience with server and/or storage systems.
* technical skills:
* software development experience - preferably in python/bash.
* experience with the lamp stack (linux/apache/mysql/php).
* programming skills based on linux scripting (bash, python, php).
* hardware/component and software debugging skills.
* proficiency with office systems (email, worksheets, presentations, etc.).
other skills:
* demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to interpret complex data, trends, and customer feedback to inform product decisions.
* strong communication skills in both technical and business settings, written and verbal.
* strong initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment.
