the primary job function of the welding engineer will support production welding processes by providing knowledge on industry best practices, and a keen eye for continuous improvement. This position will also be responsible for the start-up and debug of machine tool equipment. Responsibilities include coordinating the management of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, standardization of smp, sop, machine ledger, and am calendars documents of your technology. Inventory management ensuring that spare parts are available, maintaining and auditing correct compliance with maintenance activities, and welding matrix management to ensure processes and any changes are correctly updated to eliminate variation between amp sheets and the process.
responsibilities
roles & responsibilities:
1. provide welding engineering support to production.
2. develop and implement advanced welding processes including laser, mig/tig, orbital, and braze.
3. fixture adjustments required to meet product dimensional targets.
4. weld program changes as required to maintain an acceptable level of weld performance.
5. provide innovative, technically significant, and economically important material and welding solutions in support of manufacturing design.
6. implement weld certification (quality) strategy during launch and product or process change events.
7. work with cross-functional teams to develop quality documentation such as sccaf, process failure mode & effects analysis (pfmea), and control plans (dcp).
8. collaborate with plant personnel and skilled trades to plan equipment installations and develop prove-out plans to ensure equipment is ready for production.
9. analyze machine vision inspection results and adjust laser controller parameters.
10. analyze product failure data weld to determine causes of problems and develop solutions.
11. use welding system monitoring data for the evaluation of process quality control.
12. training of all skilled trades for manual, semi-automatic, and robotic program equipment welding related activities.
13. train and help lead weld techs.
14. plc programming and troubleshooting.
15. nc programming and troubleshooting.
16. interact with other engineering support and maintenance to react to unscheduled equipment issues and perform necessary diagnostics and repairs.
17. provide preventive & corrective maintenance on automated processes.
qualifications
education & experience requirements:
1. bachelor's degree in robotic, mechatronics, or electromechanics.
2. proficiency in communicating in technical english language. Highly developed communication skills.
3. minimum 4 years of engineering experience in welding process, mig, tig manual, and automatic equipment.
4. possess a thorough knowledge of robotic integration and engineering (fanuc, abb, kuka or others).
5. mig welding and tig welding experience on fine-tuning, adjusted parameters.
6. prior experience with software (lincoln, weld spun, wtc).
7. trained and experienced in problem-solving methods like kaizen, shainin (red-x), rps.
8. strong experience and knowledge in vision systems (cognex, keyence, and others).
9. soft skills: self-directed, collaborative (teamwork), ownership, sense of urgency/agile, achiever, leadership & project management skills.
