access assoc director: responsible for ensuring that new drugs and therapies are accessible to patients while aligning with healthcare regulations, reimbursement strategies, and payer requirements, overseeing and leading the strategy and execution of market access efforts. The role is crucial for ensuring that new drugs, therapies, or medical devices are not only approved but also made available to patients in an economically sustainable manner, while securing reimbursement from payers such as insurance companies, government bodies, and healthcare providers.
scope: develops high-level market access plans, aligns strategies across different regions, and ensures compliance with global or regional policies. Manages pricing, reimbursement, and payer negotiations on a more localized or product-specific scale.
key responsibilities:
1. strategic leadership in market access:
o develop and drive comprehensive global or regional market access strategies for the pharmaceutical portfolio, aligning with corporate objectives and product development timelines.
o lead the creation of strategies for pricing, reimbursement, and patient access across multiple markets.
o oversee local and global regulatory and reimbursement submissions for new therapies.
2. stakeholder engagement and relationship management:
o engage with government agencies, payers, and health technology assessment.
3. health economics and outcomes research (heor) oversight:
o direct the heor team in conducting health economic studies, cost-effectiveness analyses, and real-world evidence generation to demonstrate the value of the product to payers.
o lead the development of value dossiers, economic models, and clinical outcome data to support pricing and reimbursement decisions.
4. pricing and reimbursement strategy:
o establish pricing frameworks based on market research, competitive intelligence, and healthcare system capabilities.
o engage with payers and health authorities to secure favorable reimbursement conditions and negotiate pricing agreements.
o ensure the development of innovative pricing models such as risk-sharing agreements or outcome-based pricing.
5. cross-functional leadership:
o collaborate with r&d, marketing, legal, government affairs, and other key departments to ensure that access strategies are aligned with the overall business goals and regulatory environments.
o serve as a senior leader across multiple functional teams, facilitating communication between internal stakeholders and external partners.
