We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced financial controller to join our finance team in mexico. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our financial operations while providing support for strategic decision-making across the organization, particularly within the saas or software sector.
key responsibilities:
* financial reporting: prepare and analyze financial statements, with a focus on the unique reporting needs of saas companies.
* closing processes: oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
* general ledger management: manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and detailed account analysis.
* tax compliance: ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including vat, payroll taxes, and other applicable taxes; prepare tax returns and ensure timely filings.
* budgeting and forecasting: assist in budgeting and forecasting processes to support financial planning.
* audit support: provide support during audits by preparing necessary documentation and liaising with external auditors.
* process improvement: identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in accounting processes.
* team development: lead, mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment.
* cross-department collaboration: collaborate with other departments to support financial decision-making and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
qualifications:
* bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; cpa or equivalent certification preferred.
* + 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a senior role, with significant experience in financial reporting for saas companies.
* experience with us gaap is an asset.
* strong knowledge of mexican tax laws, including vat, payroll taxes, and corporate tax regulations.
* proficiency in contpaqi accounting software.
* excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
* strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* hands-on approach to financial processes and problem-solving.
* ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
* previous experience leading a finance team.
* advanced english skills.
