The production planning & inventory control (ppic) supervisor is responsible for overseeing the scheduling, coordination, and inventory management of sheet metal manufacturing operations. This role ensures efficient workflow across fabrication, assembly, paint, and integration, optimizing production schedules while maintaining inventory accuracy to support on-time delivery (otd) and cost efficiency.
responsibilities:
* develop, maintain, and optimize the master production schedule (mps) to meet customer demand and company objectives.
* release, monitor, and adjust work orders based on capacity, material availability, and shop floor progress.
* coordinate with department supervisors to ensure smooth workflow across all production stages (fabrication, assembly, paint, and integration).
* expedite critical orders and resolve scheduling conflicts to meet otd goals.
* implement and manage inventory control policies, including cycle counting, stock accuracy, and reorder strategies.
* monitor and control raw material, wip (work in progress), and finished goods inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock.
* work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize material availability and reduce lead times.
* support the implementation of a vendor-managed inventory (vmi) and kanban system to streamline material replenishment.
* supervise and mentor production planners and inventory control personnel.
* provide training and guidance on best practices in production planning and inventory management.
qualifications:
* bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, business administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* 3-5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, and inventory control in a manufacturing environment (preferably sheet metal or similar industry).
* apics/cpim certification is a plus.
* strong knowledge of erp/mrp (qad preferable) systems, bom structures, and production workflows.
* experience with lean manufacturing, kanban, and inventory optimization strategies.
* excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
* strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate cross-functional teams.
