the area security manager (asm) is a member of the global security operations & risk team within corporate security. This position is responsible for ensuring station level security program requirements and contracts are met as required by aa and government regulatory requirements.
*what you'll do*:
- establish and maintain collaborative relationships with station operational leaders and security agents.
- supporting the daily operations of insourced and outsourced lsas/soc's.
- serve as first point of contact for operational security incidents.
- establish and maintain relationships with government agencies and law enforcement on the station level.
- ensure international security program requirements are being met on a day-to-day basis.
- provide tactical support and guidance to station leaders and contractors.
- conduct internal investigations relating to customer misconduct, compliance concerns, and team member misconduct.
- conduct crew hotel and transportation security assessments.
- conduct regular audits of airport security programs.
- provide support to internal and external stakeholders regarding security regulations.
- implement and continually monitor security mitigation plans.
- represent american airlines corporate security at airport government and industry meetings including intelligence briefings, industry meetings, and regulatory performance reviews.

*minimum qualifications - education & prior job experience*
- must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the english language
- understanding of aviation security concepts from an airline, airport, regulator and/or law enforcement perspective
- understanding of aviation systems and processes
- organizational and project management skills
- strong communication skills; written and verbal
- leadership skills and previous experience managing teams
- ability to prioritize responsibilities
- ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
- ability to build and maintain professional working relationships internally and externally.
- demonstrate initiative and ownership of problems
- proficient in microsoft suite including sharepoint
- must fulfill host country government criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (sida), if applicable.
- ability and willingness for 50%+ short
- and long-haul travel; including weekends and holidays as needed.

- knowledge of the country specific aviation security regulations and international standards (icao annex 17)
- previous international airport and/or airline operations experience
- previous experience with an aviation security regulatory or aviation industry body
- previous experience in a law enforcement or regulatory capacity with an aviation focus
- previous experience in sabre or qik
- relevant foreign language skills
- college degree or military/law enforcement service equivalent
