this supply expeditor is responsible for driving on time delivery from ciena's component suppliers; managing open orders, expedite, escalations, and upside requests.
the supply expeditor will be actively engaged with both external suppliers and internal global commodity management (gcm) and supply chain teams in analyzing and reporting on the impacts, resolutions, and changes to the status of component deliveries/shortages.
essential duties and responsibilities:
- proactively reviews and validates component supplier delivery commitments to ensure timely delivery of materials to ciena's manufacturing partners- identifies any potential risks around delivery delays or decommits received from the suppliers or exceptions provided and triggers the appropriate escalation response- informs stakeholders of improved delivery schedules to facilitate quick reaction and increased production output- ensures critical shortages, and/or capacity constraints are identified early as possible and receives the appropriate actions and escalations to close gaps as quickly as possible.- works effectively with component suppliers to resolve supply gaps in support of production and npi.- communicates effectively and efficiently with stakeholders and inputs accurate information into a centralized tracker on delivery commitments and changes.- participates in cross functional production & supplier meetings to ensure on time build and customer shipments are not held up due to shortages- provides key input to suppliers of critical quantities and required dock dates at manufacturing partners for required finished goods builds.- responsible for helping to communicate forecast information/changes or pull-ins to suppliers- supports "what-if" and risk/buy analysis tied to broker parts found on the market back into the ciena stakeholders to close shortage opportunities- help detect industry supply trends both positive and negative then work with the gcm team to strategically address.- understanding and assisting with the escalation process both internal and with the supplier.- works cooperatively with others across many levels of the organization- reviews supplier's metrics to understand trends or suppliers' issues which need to be escalated within supply or procurement management.
