*job description*:
this job is based in the monterrey, nl area.
environmental scientists (es) visit client sites and conducts phase i assessments, and phase ii sampling and collection activities (soil and water), and remediation, and assist clients with the acquisition of regulatory permits and other operations permits from civic agencies.
the es will analyze results of the samples (from the lab) and write detailed client facing reports based on the results.
clients include industrial and commercial companies across mexico (and latin america) who require written reports and communications in both "english" and "spanish".

what you will be doing:
- conduct phase i environmental site assessments
- conduct phase ii environmental site assessments and field investigation activities
- conduct environmental remediation consulting activities
- analyze third party laboratory results for soil and water samples and write detailed technical reports.
- assist clients with the acquisition of regulatory permits and other operations permits from civic agencies
- assist clients with environmental compliance assessments and audits
- write client reports and submit for senior review (in english and spanish)
- represent vertex to the client in a professional manner
- schedule and coordinate subcontractor activities for project
- make employee safety a priority, in accordance with corporate policy
*qualifications*:
- minimum bachelor's degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related field
- minimum of 1 year of working experience in phase i esas and phase iis (collecting water and soil samples)
- ability to travel to client sites in mexico and latin america, sometimes with little notice and for extended periods of time.
(valid driver's license required)
- experience with stps, proteccion civil, and semarnat/profepa regulations and interactions.
- able to communicate efficiently and effectively (written and verbal in english and spanish required) with vertex staff, clients and subcontractors
- able to work effectively as part of team or alone
- able to meet deadlines, both internally and externally
- customer service orientation
- valid dc-5 permit for training and first aid and cpr certificates preferred, but not required
