Functions:
1. create and negotiate various contracts with selected suppliers while exhibiting negotiating skills.
2. drive continuous improvement and supplier development in respect to commodity differentiation, quality, service, and cost.
3. interface with colleagues and head of purchasing & supply chain regarding vendor shortages, performance, cost savings, and cost increases.
4. enter and maintain quotes, lead times, and orders in sap.
5. manage inventory levels for material groups; execute inventory reduction opportunities.
6. manage mrp exceptions with suppliers daily.
7. manage supplier relationships including monitoring supplier capacity, relationship, quality, and cost.
8. manage impact of changing product demand resulting from engineering changes and new product development.
9. support product development and concurrent engineering activities.
10. perform follow-up function to ensure delivery and quality compliance.
11. institute supplier quality management or scorecard practices ensuring optimal on-time delivery, cost, and quality while meeting certification requirements (current products and new products).
12. ensure suppliers are aligned with our business objectives by managing supplier relationships as strategic partnerships through effective supplier data driven metrics and quarterly business review meetings.
13. actively participate in material cost reduction activities.
14. work with planning by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing purchasing demand/supply data and trends.
15. analyze and interpret commodity spend data within the balboa supply chain.
16. research the commodity market to understand business drivers, relevant technology trends, and innovations (process and product).
requirements:
1. bachelor's degree preferred.
2. 2 years experience in purchasing and sourcing.
3. working knowledge of procurement and mrp principles, techniques, and policies preferred.
4. general knowledge of manufacturing processes, drawings, and specifications preferred.
5. working knowledge of consignment, jit, and vmi preferred.
6. preferably strong communication skills.
7. must be able to read, write, and create pos/contracts.
8. strong computer skills, including excel, word, and sap or equivalent preferred.
9. focus on negotiation skills with the ability to leverage opportunities with the suppliers preferred.
