The structured finance team is part of wholesale banking at hsbc mexico. The primary focus of a structured finance analyst is to contribute to increase the lending portfolio by: (i) supporting sr. members of cmb to structure credit solutions according to financial needs of corporate, financial institutions, commercial real estate and multinational customers; (ii) identifying and assessing risks of these financings in order to ensure that credit risk is properly mitigated and the deal complies with mexican banking regulation and internal policies of hsbc; (iii) preparing credit applications 100% written in english where the analyst is expected to undertake an exhaustive assessment of the customer that includes: analysis of financial statements, industry analysis, annual projections of customers to predict repayment capacity (iv) working closely with relationship managers and clients to monitor compliance of financial and non-financial terms of the lending portfolio.

throughout the tenure of this role, the teammate will gain exposure with sr. Managers of cmb, wholesale credit risk, syndications teams and back office while developing the following skills: financial / business acumen, attention to detail, analytic and strategic thinking, planning and relationship management. The analyst will also be involved in transactions for customers operating in industries such as: media, services, manufacturers, autoparts, project finance, hospitality, pharma, retail, o&g, agroindustries, food and beverage, nbfis, real estate, transportation, among others.
key activities and decision making areas
facilitate the credit process of applications & annual reviews for wholesale banking and markets costumers (corporate and fig) including:
pipeline management and credit process preparation:
thorough planning and effective management of credit request and renewal pipeline.
ability to quickly procur information necessary for credit proposal utilizing all available channels (company website, bic, regulatory filing, etc).
coordinate effectively with relationship managers to determine required information for credit proposals.
submit request for information from internal hsbc areas such as credit bureau reports and financial spreading.
preparation and analysis of probability default models (mra and sical).
credit proposal generation activities (ler/gar/carm):
write clear and concise, forward looking and insightful credit proposals that identify key risks, propose sound mitigants and covenants and support both existing and proposed limits.
calculate maximum financial limits (lcep & cnbv).
provide analysis for group overview, management, industry, and strategy, for different client types.
interpretation and analysis of financial projections/models (by client/industry).
identify and document all related risks (covenant monitoring, reputation risk, regulatory issues, audit finding, environmental, social and sustainability risk findings by hbmxs sustainability area) as well as mitigants
ability to coherently express the cobam perspective to key stakeholders, maintaining an independent and objective position with the business and risk functions.
adherence at all times to policies and regulations (local regulation/fim) identifying and informing of any possible operational risks
quality assurance of credit proposals
detailed review of credit proposals prepared by credit analysts, focusing on consistency as well as ensuring a high quality product in regards to data precision, grammar, presentation, format and overall quality.
