job summary
we are seeking a highly experienced senior inbound logistics consultant with a strong background in carrier and 3pl management within the northern mexico region. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in optimizing inbound logistics operations, ensuring efficiency, cost savings, and compliance with regional logistics regulations.
key responsibilities
1. carrier & 3pl management: develop and manage relationships with carriers and third-party logistics providers (3pls) in northern mexico, ensuring optimal service levels, cost efficiencies, and performance metrics.
2. inbound logistics strategy: design and implement strategies for inbound transportation, including freight consolidation, routing, and capacity planning.
3. process optimization: identify and execute improvements in supply chain efficiency, transit times, and cost reduction while maintaining high service standards.
4. compliance & regulations: ensure all inbound logistics operations adhere to mexican and international trade regulations, customs compliance, and cross-border transportation laws.
5. supplier & vendor coordination: work closely with suppliers, 3pls, and internal teams to streamline logistics processes, reducing delays and optimizing inventory flow.
6. data analysis & reporting: utilize logistics data to track kpis, measure carrier performance, and drive data-driven decision-making for continuous improvement.
7. technology & systems: leverage logistics management software, tms (transportation management systems), and analytics tools to optimize inbound shipments.
required qualifications & skills
1. 5+ years of experience in inbound logistics, carrier management, and 3pl operations in northern mexico.
2. strong knowledge of mexican customs regulations, cross-border transportation, and import/export procedures.
3. experience negotiating freight contracts and service-level agreements (slas) with carriers and logistics providers.
4. proficiency in logistics software, tms, wms, and supply chain analytics tools.
5. excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle logistics challenges in high-pressure environments.
6. strong communication and stakeholder management skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and executive leadership.
7. bilingual proficiency in spanish and english is preferred.
preferred qualifications
1. experience in industries such as automotive, manufacturing, or consumer goods.
2. knowledge of incoterms, nafta/usmca trade agreements, and duty management.
3. background in lean logistics or supply chain optimization methodologies.
