seeking an experienced automation engineer to lead multiple projects, from design to commissioning, while optimizing processes and roi using lean principles. Responsibilities include plc programming, system integration, fat/sat testing, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure safety, quality, and performance. Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 2–3 years in manufacturing automation, and expertise in plcs, robotics, and industrial networking.
responsibilities:
1. lead multiple automation projects simultaneously from concept to completion, including requirements gathering, system design, programming, testing, and commissioning.
2. develop cost estimates, investment forecasts, business cases, appropriation requests, and plans for project activity.
3. collaborate with cross-functional teams (including maintenance, product engineering, quality, operations, and it) to integrate automation solutions into existing infrastructure.
4. utilize lean skills to build project scopes which use automation technology to improve factory process flow and optimize roi or other kpi’s.
5. develop fat and sat requirements to conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of automation systems to ensure functionality and reliability. Ensure engineering solutions meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, time, and throughput expectations.
6. provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automation equipment.
7. develop and maintain documentation related to automation systems, including technical specifications, operating procedures, and user manuals.
8. stay current with industry trends and advancements in automation technology to recommend and implement innovative solutions.
9. ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies in all automation activities.
10. own responsibility for technical project leadership. Use prior engineering knowledge or gain new knowledge to be the project technical expert.
requirements:
1. bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automation engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
2. proven experience (2-3 years) as an automation engineer or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
3. project management experience, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, is a plus.
4. strong proficiency in plc programming (allen-bradley control logix/compact logix/micro logix, siemens, etc.), hmi/scada systems.
5. basic knowledge of servo motors, vfds, and industrial networking protocols (ethernet/ip, modbus, profibus).
6. experience with multi-axis robots, motion control systems, and vision systems is highly desirable.
additional skills:
1. fluent in english (required).
2. advanced excel skills, as well as a working knowledge of the other programs in the microsoft office suite of products.
3. must be an effective communicator with the ability to interface at all levels within the organization.
