Network & systems engineer
our purpose
p\s\l group is a global organization dedicated to putting information at the service of medicine. The companies and people of the p\s\l group aim to improve medical care by serving those who need it, those who provide it, and those who seek to improve it.
our primary purpose is to help clients increase the effectiveness of activities pertaining to scientific communication, medical education, and product/service marketing. To this end, we want our information services to contribute to the goals we share with our clients, namely: to accelerate the advancement of medicine and help people enjoy better, longer lives.
objective
the network & systems engineer is a multifaceted role that combines the expertise of network architecture with systems engineering. The individual will design, implement, optimize, and maintain both network and systems infrastructures. They will work on modern cloud platforms, automation frameworks, and serverless technologies while ensuring robust security, performance, and scalability across both networking and systems domains.
key responsibilities
network responsibilities
1. design and implement plans to ensure network capacity meets current and future requirements.
2. prioritize and implement robust security measures across network systems.
3. develop and deploy methodologies for testing and monitoring network performance; provide performance reports and statistics.
4. conduct research on emerging networking technologies to improve cost-effectiveness and flexibility.
5. manage and optimize security solutions, including firewalls, wafs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (palo alto, fortinet, aws waf, cloudflare).
6. administer network equipment, hardware, and software upgrades, including meraki switches and access points.
7. monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot networking issues, including vpcs, load balancers, and hybrid connectivity.
8. create and maintain documentation for network architecture, configuration, and processes.
systems responsibilities
1. automate infrastructure and workflows using infrastructure as code (cloudformation, terraform) and scripting languages (python).
2. design, deploy, and maintain serverless architectures using aws services such as lambda, ecs containers, and s3.
3. manage and optimize ec2 instances, storage solutions, and iam permissions.
4. implement and support serverless technologies and stacks, integrating aws services.
5. develop solutions for system scalability, high availability, and disaster recovery.
6. maintain and secure infrastructure, including backups, governance, and logging practices.
7. work closely with devops and application teams to integrate network and systems processes into ci/cd pipelines.
general responsibilities
1. collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement network and systems changes.
2. provide technical leadership and consulting on complex infrastructure designs.
3. evaluate and recommend tools, protocols, and services for network and systems improvements.
4. mentor junior team members and guide them on advanced troubleshooting and best practices.
5. participate in on-call rotations and be available for occasional planned maintenance during nights or weekends.
