*job summary*:this role will be responsible for managing the operations team to deliver results following safety, quality, delivery, and cost standards.
as an operations leader it is critical that you champion a positive culture, and act as a change agent for the organization.
the operations manager will collaborate closely with engineering and quality to drive continuous improvement.
*duties and responsibilities*:
- develop technical and practical understanding of products, manufacturing equipment, and internal processes.
bring a "hands-on" mentality to the role, including spending substantial time on the floor meeting our teams and learning production, processes, materials, etc.
- build effective relationships and provide day-to-day direction to cross-functional teams including ehs, operations, maintenance, customer service and quality to meet production goals.
- lead strategy deployment for the operations team concentrating on operational excellence.
- understand & lead the incident investigation process with supervisors for any ehs incidents using root cause analysis and problem-solving tools.
- develop a team of supervisors through effective coaching, training and mentoring: identify skill and resources gaps, set goals and conduct performance reviews.
- drive lean and six sigma initiatives from idea development through full implementation on the production floor.
- lead root cause analysis, create corrective action plans and monitor control measures for all quality escalations.
- collaborate with people operations to conduct staffing planning, hiring, and training.
- develop systems, metrics and processes that track and optimize productivity.
- other projects or duties as assigned.
*requirements*:
- minimum of 8 years of manufacturing experience.
- career progression from hands-on individual contributor to manager.
- proven track record of implementing lean, six sigma concepts (including kaizen events) and/or continuous improvement.
- bachelor's degree in engineering.
- ability to interface with and effectively communicate with a broad range of customers, cross-functional teams, as well as executive management.
- proficient in fundamental business systems (ms office) and previous experience with production management systems (erp).
- excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- quality management experience is a plus.
