position overview
the site process safety specialist is responsible for leading the process safety management system at site level. This role involves providing technical assistance in process safety to operations, laboratories and r&d teams, determining risk mitigation strategies, developing process safety concepts, managing the pra site catalog for process safety, and leading risk assessments in collaboration with various stakeholders.
the specialist will also oversee reporting and action implementation, validate management of change (moc) processes, and contribute to enhancing process safety management system elements. Additionally, active participation in cross-functional projects and collaboration with various departments and managing external psm vendors experts is expected.
in this position you will report to the ehs manager and dotted line to the process safety manager.
main responsibilities
1. site leadership: serve as the leader of local site process safety management system, ensuring the implementation of psm foundational elements commitment to process safety, understand hazards and risks, manage risks and learn from experience.
2. technical support: provide counsel and technical assistance in process safety management to stakeholders in operations, laboratories and r&d process development teams.
3. risk mitigation expertise: expertly determine necessary risk mitigation during safety reviews or as a standalone task, assisting in the development of process safety concepts.
4. risk portfolio management: responsible for the pra site catalog and risk portfolio related to process safety.
5. risk assessment leadership: lead process risk identification and assessment in collaboration with stakeholders at site level, carrying out psm plant inspections and audits.
6. reporting and implementation: oversee final reports and action implementation, implement and continuously improve ehs process safety dashboard and performance monitoring systems at site level.
7. psm system: validate management of change (moc) processes in collaboration with various functions and moc site procedure, and develop, create and implement ehs process safety standards at site level.
8. cultural improvement: contribute to enhancing process safety knowledge and culture on-site and beyond, throughout the implementation of process safety management training and education.
9. cross-functional contribution: actively participate in cross-functional projects for the site.
10. managing external process safety consultants.
qualifications
1. university degree in chemical engineering, process engineering or chemistry / organic chemistry (or related) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical process safety.
2. thorough understanding and experience in industrial risk assessment within the chemical industry.
3. experience in a field of control hazards of chemical processes of operational sites in the design of the plant, the integrity of equipment, and the operation of the facility.
4. leadership experience in a chemical production plant, laboratories and r&d chemical plant.
5. good knowledge of atex, safety instrumented systems, and machinery safety.
