*description*:this position provides legal advice and services on issues concerning customs activities including increased cross-border business, ports, and bonded yards issues.
represents the organization to customers, suppliers, competitors and government agencies.
provides resolution of business or technical issues by identifying legal solutions and recommending a course of action.
examines legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits.
requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise.
interprets internal or external business issues and recommends solutions/best practices.
*accountabilities*:- verifies compliance at the bonded yards located at salinas victoria-kcsm, puerta méxico-vamex, and interpuerto-nafta.- verifies compliance with the maneuver permit granted by the customs authority at puerta méxico-vamex.- obtains and modify any type of permits, authorizations, and licenses with the customs authorities.- assures compliance with all the foreign trade and customs legal obligations.- verifies compliance with the foreign trade and customs rules at the borders (nuevo laredo, matamoros) and the ports (lazaro cárdenas, veracruz, etc.
).- provides legal advice to import, export, and return all kinds of commodities, machines, and types of equipment and training in foreign trade and customs matters to the different areas of the company (sales, intermodal, transportation, etc.
).- follows up on foreign trade and customs administrative procedures and litigations, and procedures to release railcars and commodities seized by the customs authority.- files, coordinates and follows up on all types of legal foreign trade actions and matters.- coordinates and supervises the outside foreign trade and customs consultants.- performs periodic reporting activities with the customs authorities.- attends the audits, requirements, and inspections performed by the foreign trade and customs authorities.- implements foreign trade and customs authorities' new programs, platforms, and dispositions.- provides response to the requested information and documentation performed by the foreign trade and customs authorities.- performs lobbying and negotiations with the foreign trade and customs authorities at both levels, federal and state, looking to, amend customs rules, expedite the dispatch of commodities and railcars, improve service, extend times of work, etc.- participates with the amf and other chambers in foreign trade and customs matters.- exemplifies kcs vision, values, and culture in each and every interaction with team, clients, and stakeholders!
*required qualifications*:- bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college, preferably in a job related major field of study- minimum seven (7) years of relevant professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience*working conditions*:- this position has a regular full time schedule with a normal work week of monday through friday
