*the mold cae application engineer *will use plastic flow analysis software, moldflow/moldex3d or the like, to identify and resolve molding problems associated with automotive connector products and, in general, to improve the ability to manufacture complex molded parts.
*what you will do in your role*:
- responsible for building flow simulation models of connector products using solid molding software (cad), hypermesh and/or other fea pre-processors.
- perform flow, pack, cool and warp analyses using moldex3d and moldflow software
- write project reports and present the results to both internal and external customers.
- utilize plastics and mold design experiences to evaluate moldflow and/or moldex3d simulation results and to propose product design and/or manufacturing alternatives.
- identify potential problems and suggest improvements at different pdp stages, from product concept design, to product final detailed design, to mold design, mold debug and to qualification.
- interface with product and tooling engineers on a day to day basis.
recommend / suggest any product or tooling changes required based on the analysis results
- gather molded part performance information and conduct predicted vs. actual correlational studies.
- document and manage material and correlational study database
- performs other duties as assigned by management.
*the experience you will bring*:*
requirements*:
- bachelor or master (preferred) degree in mechanical or polymer engineering
- autodesk moldflow associate or professional certification
- strong understanding of plastics material behaviors and its properties
- hands on experience and sound knowledge of injection molding process and machine controls
- experiences in mold simulation software such as moldflow, or moldex3d
- experiences (preferred) in finite element analysis and/or building mesh models using pre-processors such as hypermesh.
