the role: the latin america geps (global exploration and production services) technical research principal is responsible for sourcing all e&p data for the region, responding to client inquiries, supporting sales and consulting efforts, and writing geps articles, weekly highlights, and country reviews. The incumbent will represent s&p global in direct engagements with government bodies throughout latin america. This position reports to the director of the americas regional teams and may supervise one or two team members.

* compilation and update of geps report including the meeting of publishing deadlines.
* coordination of data management projects of the regional team.
* knowledge and experience of exploration and production upstream to midstream activities and processes.
qualifications and background:
* a bachelor’s degree in a geo-technical discipline, e.g. Geology, geophysics or engineering.
* more than 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry in the latam region. Experience in latin america countries will be key.
* knowledge and experience of exploration and production upstream to midstream activities and processes.
* it skills including the use of databases and gis systems, ms office software.
* ability to prioritize multiple objectives and work to deadlines.
* excellent english communication skills with the ability to make presentations and write reports.
* proficiency in speaking and writing spanish or portuguese is required.
* additional consideration will be given to those who are familiar with s&p global products.
* a master and/or phd degree will be a plus.
primary tasks:
* compilation and update of geps reports, ensuring timely publication.
* provide regular information to s&p global products, maintaining high-quality standards.
* maintain and improve the quality of the database, and the country and the regional activity maps.
* continually look for new sources of historical and current data, including data that will assist other departments of s&p global. Work closely with the data management team on acquiring historical data.
* advise clients (internal and external) in all aspects of the energy industry in the region.
* represent s&p global either directly or in a supporting role in business transactions in the region.
* coordination of data management projects of the regional team.
* regular travel to attend conferences and other meetings.
* responsible for organizing that source data for the region is archived in a proper manner.
* demonstrate s&p global regional expertise through both written and oral presentations.
* may supervise one or two staff members who provide field, contract and well information, and who populate and maintain the database.
* research and analytical capabilities with the ability to locate, interpret, and leverage a variety of information.
* high level of proficiency in problem solving, decision making, and quality improvement.
* high degree of independent thinking plus the ability and initiative to learn new software applications, procedural tasks, and workflow.
* mentor other colleagues.
secondary tasks:
* membership of local and regional societies and attendance at meetings. It is encouraged to become members on relevant committees.
* write special technical reports and articles for industry journals and present papers at society meetings or conferences, utilizing s&p global data for the region.
* assist with information for other s&p global products and projects when required.
* feed any sales leads to the relevant account managers.
* keep other arms of s&p global informed of any business opportunities such as promotional work, non-exclusive and exclusive projects.
