The process engineer for heat treatment will be responsible for monitoring the operations of our systems, including quality and compliance. The candidate should also be able to recommend improvements to the process through the tracking of metrics and reporting of data. The candidate should definitely have strong technical abilities in order to succeed in this role.
responsibilities
* responsible for utilizing appropriate apqp and quality system methods to facilitate the processing of new job samples. The main goal of process engineering is to develop manufacturing control parameters that are clear, accurate and repeatable and always result in parts that meet the customer’s requirements.
* provide process engineering support to manufacturing daily as they require help. The process engineer is involved in all manufacturing operations in the plant and will work with other process engineering, design engineering, manufacturing engineering and quality engineering personnel to provide that support.
* evaluate, troubleshoot, and develop effective processing controls for existing production jobs. Continually evaluate manufacturing operations for continuous improvement potential.
* manage the sampling process, including processing and inspection of all samples and prototypes to meet customer requirements and due dates. This may also include working with scheduling, manufacturing and quality where appropriate.
* use statistical techniques to assist in gathering information about parts and processes.
* assist in the investigation and analysis of new materials, equipment, and processes.
* participate actively in cost savings and/or continuous improvement teams as requested.
* work on special projects as requested by the engineering, quality assurance, sales and manufacturing departments.
* collaborate with outside vendor engineering to develop new job and prototype processes and troubleshoot and improve current production processes.
* work within the guidelines of the safety policies and procedures, ensuring the safety of yourself and all employees.
* support department goals and objectives and assist in tracking them.
* perform or assist with equipment and material test studies.
* perform other related duties as required or assigned by the engineering manager.
* review equipment of temperature control.
* carry out inventory tooling in some areas as required. Involved in control and design of new tools.
* develop and control work instructions for different machineries in manufacturing operations.
* be the oee owner and leader of setting activities to meet this kpi.
* responsible for improving set up machine downtime.
* participate actively in scrap reduction activities.

qualifications
mandatory
* bachelor’s in engineering and/or minimum 3 years’ experience.
* thorough understanding of apqp, ppap, pfmea’s and new product launches.
* knowledge of microsoft office applications and database applications (such as autocad, solidworks).
* ability to develop clear and concise work instructions.
preferable
* thorough understanding of metal manufacturing processes including a variety of machining and secondary processes (cnc, press, grinding, heat treatment) capabilities.
* keep current on engineering technology through technical publications, outside training, and education to achieve professional certifications.
* membership involvement in professional societies.
