production manager

job objective
this role will coordinate, plan and direct employees and equipment to manufacture welding and brazing consumables while ensuring safety and quality and optimizing productivity, costs, and service to customers. The production manager will ensure all environmental and safety policies and programs are upheld
responsible to oversee the entire production process of the plant:
manufacture welding electrodes, brazing consumables, welding flux cored wires
• implement the company’s vision for manufacturing to meet desired outputs, customer demand, inventory levels and equipment efficiency while meeting quality and safety and health standards in order to keep the plant accident-free.
• communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
• define, track, and analyze key performance indicators to monitor and increase efficiency. Lead continuous improvement actions and develop ways to make the production process more efficient.
• evaluating machine and staff resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.
• design, follow and enforce operational policies, procedures, and recognized manufacturing best practices.
• hire, train, and evaluate production and maintenance staff. Monitor plant’s workers to ensure they meet performance and safety requirements.
• setting productivity goals for each manufacturing team
• determine whether new equipment machines are needed, or whether overtime work is necessary.
• provide operational direction and leadership to supervisors and hourly workforce by proactively review performance results with the team and actions for improvement.
• implement lean manufacturing and 5s in the production site.
• motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to production staff
• management of the engineering and production function including:
a. Facilities management, utilities and security
b. Plant layout and technology requirement
c. Process engineering
d. Projects
requirements:
education and experience:
. Bilingual (spanish- english)
• university degree in manufacturing or engineering
• 10+ years’ experience as production or plant manager in a fast paced and complex environment
• lean manufacturing six sigma certification
• experience in the stick electrodes welding industry is a clear advantage
skills and abilities:
• ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
• proactive self starter with a very high level of organization and capacity to respect deadlines
• strong manufacturing background
• demonstrated experience in promoting process improvement and in leading and coordinating multiple
crews in a manufacturing environment
• proficient with software such as microsoft office.
