The plant manager will be responsible for overseeing all production operations at our tecate, mexico facility.
we are seeking an experienced and results-driven plant manager with a strong background in manufacturing operations, particularly in sheet metal production.
the ideal candidate will have expertise in driving operational efficiency, implementing lean manufacturing strategies, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
strong leadership, organizational skills, and import/export knowledge are essential.

key responsibilitiesproduction & operations management: manage all aspects of manufacturing operations, including production, warehouse, materials department, production planning, and local purchasing.manage daily plant operations to ensure production goals are met efficiently.plan and control the effective use of manpower, machines, and materials to meet production targets while driving continuous improvement.ensure manufactured components meet engineering specifications and quality standards.oversee and improve inventory control processes to maintain accuracy and minimize discrepancies.leadership & team development: develop and execute strategic plans to meet operational performance targets such as safety, quality, on-time delivery, and cost control.lead and mentor department supervisors and staff, ensuring effective performance management, coaching, and employee engagement.develop and implement cross-training programs to enhance workforce flexibility and skill development.manage labor relations practices in accordance with company policies.compliance management: ensure strict adherence to federal, state, and municipal regulations in partnership with tacna.import/export expertise: manage import/export processes in compliance with mexican customs regulations and usmca requirements, ensuring accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and smooth cross-border material movement.resource management: plan and control manpower, machines, and resources to meet production goals efficiently.team development: provide effective leadership, coaching, and support to build a high-performance, team-oriented culture.equipment maintenance: ensure all equipment and tooling are routinely and preventively maintained.communication & reporting: establish clear communication methods, set goals and objectives, and track operational metrics.new product introduction: support product launches by validating processes, equipment, and production readiness.safety: ensure a clean, safe, and organized working environment by promoting and enforcing safety protocols.administrative duties: coordinate with tacna on hr planning, staffing needs, and administrative processes.
provide detailed production reports and performance metrics to senior leadership.
perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.qualifications & experienceeducation: bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field preferred.
equivalent experience will be considered.experience: minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing leadership role.
experience in sheet metal manufacturing is strongly preferred.
proven expertise in import/export processes and working with shelter organizations like tacna.skills & abilities: strong knowledge of erp systems for production and inventory management.
proficiency in microsoft excel, word, or google sheets/docs.
excellent written and verbal communication skills.
strong organizational and time management abilities.
ability to identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency.
proven track record of fostering trust, accountability, and integrity.
