Overview
the sr. Safety engineer is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and environmental protection goals of the company. It is to prevent accidents and eliminate or control risks and exposures that could result in harm to our employees and contractors.
responsibilities
1. improving, monitoring, and enforcing programs, policies, and procedures to prevent accidents, eliminate or control exposures, and comply with policies and procedures and regulations of local, state, and federal regulatory agencies in the various countries.
2. recommending corrective actions or preventative measures to eliminate or engineer out safety risks and ensuring implementation of these measures.
3. conducting safety meetings and coordinating safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance, identify corrective action, and implement follow-up assessments.
4. training managers, supervisors, and employees on their responsibilities in continuously improving the safety culture and execution of everyday operations.
5. ensuring supervisors conduct a thorough investigation of all job-related accidents and incidents; ensuring that appropriate root cause and corrective action is taken.
6. active member of rain bird corporate safety committee.
7. advising plant management team on health and safety compliance with rain bird safety standards.
8. promoting our safety culture and leading corporate safety programs to improve the plant's overall safety culture.
qualifications
minimum qualifications:
1. bachelor’s degree in a related field
2. knowledge of safe work practices and procedures
3. strong leadership and influencing skills
4. strong interpersonal skills
5. strong verbal and written communication skills
6. strong presentation and team facilitation skills
7. minimum of 5 years of experience
8. bilingual - english and spanish
desired qualifications:
1. master’s degree
2. bachelor’s degree in safety, health, engineering, or related discipline preferred
3. engineering experience
4. knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations (e.g. Osha, stps)
