To audit and analyze clearance activities to ensure regulatory compliance and correct duty treatment.
conducts research on country and international customs laws, regulations and procedures, to anticipate impact of requirements to fedex and its customers, and assists in the development of programs to better address these requirements. Ensures pertinent regulatory information is directed toward appropriate fedex departments and customers. Maintains and monitors duty tracking system and customer profiles. Administrates resolution processes, minimizing financial and legal exposure of both fedex and its customers. Monitors special import documentation requirements and procedures regarding free trade certification, carnets, temporary entries and other preferential or special import programs. Researches seizures, fines or penalties against fedex or its customers and files protest/mitigation request with various levels of government. Provides support for operations, sales and marketing to ensure customers receive timely and correct advice regarding specific documentation and other export, import or clearance requirements.
minimum qualifications:
1. bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.
2. three (3) years of professional experience in international shipping.
3. strong knowledge of import and export control requirements (harmonized system, incoterms, etc.).
4. knowledge of fedex systems preferred, including the dispute tracking system (dtss).
5. strong human relations and written and verbal communication skills.
6. good planning and analytical skills.
7. fluency in english.
