role summary/purpose
the materials buyer will work under the global supply chain material - fulfillment organization.
this individual will be based at monterrey.
some of the main activities will include the planning, purchasing & expediting of materials incoming from global suppliers and into the wabtec's warehouses and service centers.
essential responsibilities- manage purchase orders to ensure objectives are met regarding on time delivery, inventory, customer emergencies and material availability.- execute the rp sourcing coe materials strategy in support of lean manufacturing objectives.- communicate forecast with suppliers and monitor delivery.- responsible for executing the global sourcing strategy by working with sourcing, fulfillment, engineering, and finance teams.- responsible for leveraging cross-location opportunities for supplier rationalization and material consolidation.- responsible for internal and external customer support for emergencies and out of services.- work closely with rp fulfillment leader to reduce cycle times from suppliers.- work closely with the commodity teams to identify opportunities of cost reduction and supplier consolidation within the global supply chain.
qualifications/requirements- bachelor's degree in process (at least 80% credits completed)- minimum of 1+ year(s) purchasing or sourcing experience.- ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.- advanced level microsoft office.- strong analytical and presentation skills.- ability to work effectively in a team with demonstrated leadership skills.- strong propensity for excelling in a demanding fast paced environment.- excellent written & verbal english communication skills.- comfortable individual working under pressure.- demonstrated proactive problem-solving ability.- ability to read and understand mrp reports, stock status reports, material variance reports.
desired characteristics- previous work with multinational organizations is preferred.- negotiation's experience.- leadership and multi-project management experience.- six-sigma trained.- strong skills in oracle desired.
