Operations specialist support scope
- under specific guidelines performing work directed from the site it manager
- perform asset management inventory updates
- perform label printing and delivery as needed
- support end-user devices (pcs, printers, scanners, mobile phones and tablets)
- use remote pc management tools to assist users
- complete assigned it project tasks
- use corporate it tools to perform remote device management and user support
- build clients (pcs, laptops, printers, wireless devices) per common procedure(s)
- participate with cross-functional teams as required
- maintains, analyzes, troubleshooting, and repair of computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals
- ability to climb a ladder or open stairways to access network cabinets on mezzanine level platforms as needed.

- support gm managed lan and wan network infrastructure hardware
- support wireless network and end device configuration / replacement
- support the gm managed supplier network
- support gm das network and plant radio system
- support voip and analog phone devices
- support teleconference devices
- interface with plant engineering / maintenance for network support including the iecn network
- interface to the plant business personnel, outside vendors, launch teams, as well as the global telecom engineering staff
- perform and support network change controls as required
- maintain plant network and device documentation
- troubleshoot all network incidents and device issues
- perform cisco switch, ap and wherenet hardware configuration / replacement
- configure network switch ports for it devices
- support infrastructure project assigned tasks
- coordinate install new network drops (facilities/contractors)
- support all network requests for new servers deploys
- complete plant network ticket requests
- maintain ip addresses and ddi entries
- manage assigned network projects
- manage cornerstone network items
- maintain asset management for network equipment including network spares
- maintain all monitoring tools to ensure all devices are being monitored and notifications are in place
local area network support scope
- documenting, crafting, staging/testing, configuring, planning, implementing, solving and supporting telecom installations.
- 1. Document - building/maintaining/updating gm telecom documentation and processes.
- 2. Support - providing technical support for operational issues and/or problems. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving network problems.
- 3. Stage and test - testing and validating new hardware, software, and procedures for existing technologies, as well as, any newly developed technologies.
- 4. Implement/configure - demonstrating working knowledge in areas of specialization that include lan, wan, wi-fi, voice, uc, contact center, digital video, application development, network security, applied networking and operations. Making recommendations for improvements.
- 5. Design - crafting telecom production environments. Building simulated test labs to validate design or resolve highly complex problems and compatibility issues.
- 6. Monitoring - building, tracking and responding to alerts. Monitoring facilities bandwidth requirements and system interdependencies
- 7. Planning - planning, executing and communicating upgrade and migration activity. Leading capacity planning activities.
- 8. Communication - effectively collaborating and communicating witmulti-functionals functional teams through appropriate media (written and verbal). Facilitating group discussions. Building presentation material and presenting at team level.

- knowledge:

- 3 years of it experience
- a bachelors degree in a technical discipline or graduate of a technical school/college in an it discipline
- manufacturing experience (preferred)
- experience including wan/lan and wireless areas of experience
- ccna (preferred)
- all it operations specialist education or equivalent experience
- experience in comprehensive network services and networks
- in-depth experience and practical knowledge of networking systems including wan, lan, firewalls, routers, switches, servers, aps and it end devices)
- experience in operations support - responding to requests and providing ongoing day-to-day support at the site level
- experience in deploying, executing, testing, validating os updates and patches
