Position summary
manage and execute projects related to product development/formulation, batch testing, scale-up and commercialization of new products; process improvement of existing products.
develop product specifications; manage sensory science activities, and oversee product regulatory, labeling and nutritional compliance.
analyze and develop technical recommendations for processing cooked products, commercial process development, commercialization improvement, quality systems and regulatory oversight.
job function
develop and implement product design, experimental design, benchtop r&d execution, product evaluation, and sample presentations; develop short and long-term testing programs for experimental and commercial products and hybrids
analyze laboratory results including but not limited to new products and trend plotting; tracking chemistry tests; building parameters
document and maintain production's standard technical instructions (sti); verify adherence to the specifications
identify product growth and new product opportunities; develop, modify and implement new product launches from concept to commercialization; design, conduct plant trials and summarize results; maintain technical documentation
identify and execute initiatives including innovation, renovation, cost engineering, and brand maintenance; identify customer needs; collaborate with cross-functional teams including but not limited to marketing, customer insights, sales, operations, food safety quality and regulatory (fsqr), finance, and multiple proteins; develop new products based on findings; provide technical sales support
develop and implement innovation roadmap market plan(s) including but not limited to market and innovation plans
build and maintain relationships with foodservice customers; provide technical sales assistance

minimum qualifications
bachelor's degree in food science or related or equivalent experience
three (3) years' food product development experience
excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
proven troubleshooting and analytical skills
ability to influence, coach and motivate others to meet food science goals
ability to build effective plans to support strategic initiatives
proven organization skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects to meet various deadlines in a fast-paced environment
proficient with microsoft office, including skills with outlook, word and excel
preferred qualifications
food manufacturing experience
experience in culinary or restaurant environment
technical sales / customer service experience
project management experience including influencing/leading cross-functional project teams
physical requirements
usual plant environment with frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing.
frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of machinery and equipment.
oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone.
the noise level in the work environment ranges from normal office levels to loud levels due to equipment and machinery use.
work environment
ability to work in an office and plant environment with exposure to noise, equipment and machinery
able to work in a facility with varying temperatures (34° f to 95° f) for prolonged periods of time.
able to travel up to 50% of the time, including overnight stays for up to 5 days at a time
