*job summary*:the new manager - engineering reports to the director of manufacturing and manages a team of corporate assembly engineers.
this team is responsible to champion the development, design, build and implementation of safe, flexible, lean and highly competitive assembly processes with the lowest cost solution for the metallics business unit.
*essential functions*:
- lead corporate assembly engineering group and provide technical oversight for all assembly engineering work
- ensure assembly engineering discipline follows corporate level engineering standards
- support assembly equipment proposal strategy development, preparation, clarification and award negotiations for new business awards within the metallics business unit
- drive change management initiatives
- create improvement plans for corporate assembly engineering team
- provide leadership, mentorship and performance management for assembly engineers
- approve engineering performed by assembly engineers
- schedule and oversee the timely completion of engineering projects
- work with corporate legal counsel and purchasing to negotiate contract language, terms and conditions.
- work with the corporate finance on developing capex plans that effectively capture our program metrics.
- communicate and collaborate with other functional managers
- abide by all company polices including, but not limited to the following: health and safety, quality and environmental systems, human resources policies, and the martinrea employee handbook
*required education and experience*:
- post-secondary education (community college or undergrad degree) in the one of the following:
- engineering
- manufacturing (automation and tooling)
- minimum 10 years' experience in manufacturing/automation and tooling and program management experience
- strong communicator in the english language, both written and oral
- excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail
- strong time management skills
- demonstrated leadership skills
- fluent in microsoft office (excel, word, and powerpoint)
- extensive knowledge of cad software (autocad, solidworks, catia, ug)
