Position summary the mechanical engineer supports new product development for the company’s thermal global products. The mechanical engineer is responsible for the physical design and/or thermal system design of new products. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.
responsibilities
1. creates/modifies mechanical parts/assemblies/drawings in cad systems, such as creo and/or solid edge.
2. create and maintain bill of materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct bom’s based on options selected by the customer.
3. works with marketing, manufacturing, service and quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all of their needs.
4. assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and guidance when issues arise.
5. gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.
6. understands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.
7. assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.
8. coordinate performance testing in the lab.
9. analyze test data, diagnose issues and determine changes to improve performance.
10. thermal system modeling to determine performance and correct part selection.
11. determine controls routines needed to make system operate optimally and to meet customer requirements.
qualifications
1. bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
2. basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety.
3. basic mechanical cad tools experience- solid edge, creo, solid works.
4. experience with sheetmetal, piping and assemblies is a plus.
5. data-entry systems familiarity - oracle, agile, etc.
6. strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically.
7. detail oriented.
8. excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.
9. ability to multitask and operate in cross functional global development teams.
physical environmental demands must be able to work in the lab or production facility to diagnose and solve problems.
time travel required regular travel between office/lab and the production factory (both in monterrey) and minimal travel.
